April 2012

The auction was held on the 25th of March at Coldstream Park and was a huge success, an event held with high anticipation resulting in a high turnout in numbers. The morning of the auction was bitterly cold and frosty, there was a lot of excitement in the air, running on not much sleep the staff all were perky and cheerful. Once the tables settings and final touches were in order it was all systems go, all the horses were well behaved and presented amazingly.

The first of the people to flood in was around 1:50pm with an abundance of cars to follow. After everyone checked in and received their complimentary champagne/ beer, they were left at their own devices to roam the stables to view all the lots on offer. A lot of effort went into the presentation of the auction with many new flowers and plants lighting up the arena and stable area, it was magical. We had 7 staff working tirelessly on the day, with stud principle Wendy Ansell managing last minute proceedings and answering the phone which was ringing nonstop, head trainer (myself) was suited up manning the office, checking in everyone and making everyone feel most welcome, offering drinks and food, we had Wayne, Lzzie and Catlien over at the stables providing helpful information on each horse and showing them to prospective bidders.

We were lucky enough to acquire 3 volunteers for the day to help with the running of the day, and what a great help they proved to be, thank you very muchly Sandy, Bec and lee. Glennis Barrey was our guest commentator for the day offering her professional opinion on each horse as it entered the arena and did a remarkable job doing so, thank you immensely and hope to see you at our 2013 auction!

The auction kicked off to a shy start with bidders sitting on their hands, it wasn’t long before we were cooking with gas, 5 sold at the fall of the hammer with a further 6 selling after negotiation just after the bidding of each horse. What a fantastic result for our second auction in such a depressed market.!
The auction went for approx 2 and half hours and ran like clockwork, a compliment to the able staff presenting the horses, each horse presented beautifully firstly in hand then let free to show off all of their fantastic gaits.

Glennis, myself, Wendy and James (auctioneer) were seated in the middle of the arena with guests seated along the long side of the arena and even spilling into the wine/food marque it was a great sight to see.
We would like to congratulate the new owners of 11 of Coldstream’s horses and the successful bidders on the frozen semen lots, we look forward to seeing many more fantastic foals being bred by the public by our stallions both past and present.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank our major sponsor for the day “HorseQuest”, they provided much appreciated publicity leading up to the auction and on the day, also to the local scouts who provided affordable lunch with all proceeds going to charity! A huge thank you to the staff and volunteers as well as Glennis Barrey,  as well to Despina from Show Pony Graphics for your help on the day and your amazing publication skills and keeping the website promptly updated. Horse force legal for providing all legal binding contracts, thank you finally to James (auctioneer) from Hedges.

We have many more fantastic young horses as well as ones started under saddle for sale, please view the sale section. Click here to see who sold on the day!

April 2011

Coldstream Park has been asked to model horses and the property for advertising,  AIS  equine insurance and the 2011 Weatherbeeta horse rugs worldwide advertising campaign.

Our stallion Uswin with Tyron Lucas were asked by AIS to provide a lovely photo of Uswin being ridden by Ty for the back cover of Horsedeals magazine in 2010 and 2011.

If you look at the recent catalogue or go online you will see our horses modelling the horse rugs at our stud. We spent many hours working with the fantastic team from Weatherbeeta to choose the exact right locations around the farm, set up for photographer and provide the right horses to show off the lovely new rug range. Some of the shots required twilight and sunsets so it was very interesting.

If anyone is interested in booking the farm or 5 acre English garden or the horses, for photo/filming advertising , I am happy to hire them out and can organise staff to help.

We are currently in the process of doing photo shoots and filming to update the for sale pages and also we will be soon updating photos and dvd stallions at stud to prepare for the coming breeding season.

Tyron is also starting to compete Uswin in dressage competition, stay tuned!

March 2011

Coldstream park now boasts another stable block consisting of 5 large stables and tack and feed area.

We have added further more international frozen semen mare to our broodmare band with bloodlines including flemmigh, don frederco weltmeyer, farrington and jazz.

We are eagerly awaiting foals for the 2011 season by Totilas, Furst Fugger, Christ, French Kiss and also our imported stallion Uswin.

We have welcomed Peter Fisher level 3 international German coach, as a trainer who teaches at Coldstream Park on a weekly basis.

February 2011

We had San Francisco assessed by ACE Group and he was the second highest scoring yearling colt. We look forward to competing him in young horse classes and standing him at stud. We thank Flora for giving us the opportunity to have him, he is quite a character and loves to play, given a horse ball, after observing his antics with a plastic bucket, was a hit he spends hours playing with it. This has been filmed for funniest home video.

Our only 2 foals for the 2010 season both by Quarterback, were rated premium with the ACE tour and both placed in the top 10 foals in the country, we have retained the colt as a future stallion and competition horse, the filly we have sold reluctantly but to a great home just down the road from our stud, we look forward to seeing her out competing with her new owners in the future.

December 2010

Tyron and Wendy went to see a yearling colt by San Jose sadly deceased, who was 2 time Australian Young Dressage horse winner, imported and ridden by Mathew Dowsley.  As far as we are aware our yearling San Francisco FF is the only colt in the world by this Magnificent Stallion. He was bred by Flora Freeman in NSW and is out of her Weltmeyer mare, a full sister to Welton Fyne FF who was exported to Europe and competing very successfully now in Europe.

We have purchased the young imported stallion Don Dutchovy this 7 year old stallion competed successfully up to elementary level and past his preliminary stallion classification in Germany before his import to Australia.

2010 New Stallion Uswin imported from France

In 2010 Wendy and Tyron travelled to Europe to Louire Valley , Verrie in France to see Uswin the Dutch KWPN born and Selle Francais performance tested and fully approved licensed stallion.

Uswin was trialled for 4 days and proved to be just what we were looking for, a rare gem with potential to make a team Olympic dressage horse.

Uswin arrived in Australia in late 2010 and went straight to GVEH to have his semen frozen. He has proved to be very fertile and we have a few mares now in foal to him with frozen and most went in foal .First try with his frozen semen which is excellent. Tyron was looking for a suitable stallion for many months before deciding Uswin may be the one.

In 2009 coldstream purchased the young horse sensation and FEI champion mare DP Wedonna, she took Tyron the top 10 young rider of the year for Victoria and is now retired to stud duties.
